Black Women Aren’t Angry- We are Healing!

Black Women, our Worth, our Self-Esteem

I found myself in my fair share of fights as a kid. My self-worth was low, and I wanted to be accepted. I was also bullied. I felt I needed to prove myself, and that looked like giving everybody who made me feel disrespected a piece of my mind.

Like many of you, I was raised in an environment where going off, popping off, and clapping back were praised. We’ve all heard our friends and family praise us for insulting someone or using our words as weapons. Although I bragged about it, on the inside, it caused me lots of heartache and broken relationships, which exacerbated my anxiety. I carried this behavior into my adulthood. I explain all of this in “The Black Girl’s Guide to Healing Emotional Wounds.”

My mission today is to pour into as many Black women and Black girls as I can, helping them realize their self-worth and understand that there are better ways to resolve conflict and to embrace healing. This is the crux of the Therapy is a Flex program. We are launching this program this summer across the cities of Baltimore, DC, Philadelphia, Richmond/Petersburg, Prince William County, Prince George’s County, Chicago, Charlotte, and Brooklyn/Queens.

ou will see us giving away guided journals and affirmations and encouraging them to make therapy their flex, signing women up for our free therapy program at backpack drives, block parties, church events, and community gatherings. See the schedule below
