If you are following me on social media, you may have noticed that I began a conversation asking those on the healing journey to share how they knew they had released some of the pain of the past. Here is what they said:
I knew I was healing when….
“I told the story and it was just a story and emotions were not attached to it.”
“I stopped chasing approval from people who barely exerted the effort to know me.”
“I stopped responding with anger to everything that bothered me, didn’t go my way, or was out of line.”
“I accepted the loss quietly and moved on.”
“When I was okay with not making their lives miserable.”
“I no longer felt invisible.”
“I stopped using sex to stop the pain.”
“When I saw the woman that was in my home sleeping with my ex-husband and I felt no emotion.”
“I started believing in myself and trusting the Lord.”
“I realized how I behaved was hurting the people I loved the most.”
“I realized what I experienced in my childhood was not normal.”
“I stopped blaming myself.”
“I no longer saw myself as a victim but a survivor.”
The pain that haunts you no longer has to be a part of your life.
